Frequently asked questions

How do I apply for a position?

You can find the Apply button at the top and bottom of the page when viewing a job posting. You can either apply by uploading your CV, or apply with your Indeed profile. Before you can submit your application, you will be asked to enter your contact details and (if applicable) answer additional questions.

What should I include in my application?

Your application should always include your up to date CV.
We’re also happy to hear your reasons for applying, and why you think you’re the perfect candidate for the position - you can use the cover letter for this, either by uploading or typing it into the corresponding field. If there’s any additional information you would like to include (references, certifications), you’re welcome to upload those as well.

Should I apply multiple times?

We would prefer it if you didn’t apply multiple times, as this slows down our process. You will hear from us as soon as we’ve finished screening your CV.

Should I reapply when I've been rejected in the past?

We encourage you to reapply when you’ve found a position that better suits your profile!
If, however, you apply for the same position again after a short period of time, with no significant changes in skill levels or experience, your application will likely not be successful.

Should I send an email in addition to my application?

You don’t need to send an email or contact us in any way other than your application. Instead, use the cover letter to let us know about your motivation.

I'm interested in OpenProject, but none of the open positions suit my profile. What should I do?

If you think you would be a great addition to our team but none of the open positions are right for you, please use our Speculative Application.

When can I expect to hear back about my application?

We aim to contact you within 7 days of receiving your application. During especially busy times like during the vacation season, we might be a bit slower than that. You will be informed about this after submitting your application.

How long will the interview process take?

We try and finish the application process within 2-3 weeks. Of course, depending on availability, this might take longer.

Which tools are used during the application process?

We use Recruitee as our Applicant Tracking System. Big Blue Button is our video conferencing software that is used for every interview. For the practical exercise, depending on the position, you will need a text editing program, an Excel-like program or [insert requirements for dev challenge].

Can I ask questions during the interviews?

Yes, please! Our interviews will never consist of us asking you rapid-fire questions and then signing off. Please ask us any and all questions that will help you make a decision.

Will you let me know about the outcome of the process even if I don't receive an offer?

Yes. You will receive feedback from us either via email or telephone at every stage of the process, even if you don’t receive an offer.

Will I need to screen share during the interview process?

You might be asked to share your screen during the presentation of your practical exercise.

Your data will only be seen by those involved in the hiring process, typically a recruiter, a manager, and a hiring lead. We use Recruitee, a platform that aligns with our data protection standards. Personal recruiter

Throughout the hiring process, your recruiter will be your main point of contact. You can reach out at any stage with questions, requests for updates, or to schedule extra chats. While other interviews are led by managers, your recruiter stays available and supports you until the end of the process.

Receiving updates

We don’t ghost. You’ll always hear back from us, even if we can’t provide detailed feedback early on. Once you pass the screening, we aim to give personal responses. We try to reply within a week at each step. Sometimes, it might take longer - especially during holidays - but we’ll always get back to you.
